As I may have mentioned at some point Pampelmoose, my joint venture with Gang of Four’s Dave Allen, was absorbed by Nemo Design. Being an official part of the Nemo team has been super cool and I feel so thankful to have landed at such an awesome company. Recently the staff got together for a photo shoot in our new all white photo studio and hilarity ensued. See if you can spot me sporting my new Paul McCartney circa 1970 look. The Whigs: Right Hand on My Heart

Yessir Rock’n Roll is alive and kicking. This is one of the best new singles I’ve heard in a looooong time. Note the very Bonham-esque drum tone and the nod to “My Generation” in the final 30 seconds of the song. Should be played loud for best effect.. You can buy the track/CD here: The Whigs: Mission Control

Costello and Attractions to open for the Police

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

This is cool. It’s been announced that Elvis Costello and the Attractions are going to open for the Police on their final swing through North Amercia. I was going to pass on the Police reunion…but if they come near Portland I may have to go now that EC is on the bill. By the way, if you haven’t picked up Costello’s more recent records with the Attractions, When I Was Cruel and Delivery Man, I’d highly recommend checking them out.

The press release for the Police’s next round of dates emphatically underscores that this will be the LAST time they ever perform together as the Police (just like The Who). With an estimated $340 million gross (highest grossing tour of all time apparently) Sting, Andy and Stuart won’t have to do ANYTHING ever again

My secret love of death metal drumming

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I have a friend who’s been trying to turn me on to a few hardcore metal bands like Mastery and Opeth and while I can’t quite get into the genre there’s no doubt these drummers kick ass. Above is Chris Adler from Lamb of God…again not my cup of tea musically but there’s no doubt this guy is talented.

Freaking hilarious. I haven’t been able to get this tune out of my head since I saw it a few days ago.
